Exercise is Medicine

Overview

One of the mostĀ important decisions a person will make regarding his or her overall health is to incorporate physical activity into his or her lifestyle. We understand that encouragement from a physician might be the greatest influence on a patient’s decision to make a lifestyle change.

Exercise is Medicine is an initiative of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Medical Association. This program is a quick, simple and effective process for a person to get on track with improving his or her quality of health and well-being. This program helps individuals with varying health conditions (i.e., hypertension, sleep disorders, obesity, etc.) learn how to incorporate physical activity into their daily routines. We offer programs for Phase III Cardiac Rehab, Next Step – Musculoskeletal injury, Joint Effort, Diabetes Fitness, Cancer Fit, and Better Bones – Osteoporosis. With the guidance of an exercise specialist, the individual will train and learn how to perform exercises that are more effective in improving his or her health and quality of life.

“My husband and I both started Exercise Is Medicine for different reasons. I was looking to lose weight and my husband had open heart surgery a couple of years ago and was coming for Phase Three Cardiac Rehab. We both had struggled with exercise in the past, but Ashton was great. She gave us both a tailored exercise plan, each approved by our doctor and taught us the importance of being consistent. We highly recommend the EIM Program. I lost weight and inches, and my husband has more mobility and has strengthened his cardiovascular system and is able to do more than ever.”

Shelia Turner Testimonial

“I joined Exercise Is Medicine after completing physical therapy for pain and weakness in my knee. Through the program, I not only lost weight and inches off my waist and hips but found a new confidence within myself and exercise. I have since branched out from the one-on-one sessions with Exercise is Medicine to now attending aqua classes, and even more challenging classes like Cycle and M.E.L.T.”
